Generally available is the migration line you can promise

So GitHub Changelog put Enterprise Live Migrations from GHES to ghe.com generally available on the feed last night. We flagged it Important as a ga_release. The sentence that matters is generally available. Not the CLI name, and not the version floor on GHES. That's the status word. Once it's GA you can talk about it on a call as a move you can actually run.

I keep treating GA like a ribbon on a feature list. Kind of the wrong habit. Preview is the line your AE misses. We already wrote about that. GA is the opposite miss. It shows up looking like another ship note, and unless you're watching for the word you quote the feature list and skip the promise.

To the best of my understanding this one is a real migration path, not a demo. Near-zero-downtime repository migrations from GitHub Enterprise Server to GitHub Enterprise Cloud with Data Residency. Continuous sync, cutover in minutes, built for big monorepos with deep history and a lot of issues and PRs. Managed with the gh elm CLI extension against the GHES REST API. Supported on GHES 3.17.18 and newer patch lines through 3.22.0+. It sits next to GitHub Enterprise Importer. You can use them together.

If you sell to GitHub Enterprise accounts, let's say, this is the row that changes what you can put in a migration or DR conversation. You could talk about ELM before. Now you can point at generally available on a public changelog without hedging the readiness of the path itself.

The Important flag caught the status word. Recency still wants you looking at Next.js canaries. Fine. Recency is not the migration promise.

We pull it into a uniform entry shape at /sources/github-changelog. Same JSON as everything else. The talking point is generally available, then near-zero downtime to GHEC DR, then the GHES version floor. The CLI is how you drive it. The feature list is decoration.
