Partner Deprecations

How agencies track deprecation deadlines

The use case

If your product integrates with platforms like Stripe, Shopify, Salesforce, or AWS, you need to know when they deprecate APIs your integration uses. Missing a deprecation deadline can break your product for every customer.

How Watch Changelog helps

Query for entries from the platforms you integrate with, then filter client-side for deprecation and breaking changes. Parse the sunset_at field to know the deadline. Set up a simple cron job to check daily.

Example workflow

  1. Query GET /api/v1/entries?sources=stripe-changelog&since=2026-01-01T00:00:00.000Z&limit=200 once a day, then filter client-side for entries with is_important=true or tagged deprecation
  2. If a new deprecation appears, check if your integration uses the deprecated API (search your codebase for the method name)
  3. If yes, create a ticket and schedule the migration before the sunset date
  4. If no, log it and move on

Real example

Stripe deprecated Checkout Session mode=setup in 2023 and gave developers 12 months to migrate. Companies tracking the Stripe changelog had a year to update their integration. Companies that missed it had broken checkout flows when the deadline hit.

What to track

Filter for entries with:

  • tags containing deprecation or breaking
  • is_important=true
  • sunset_at not null (the vendor published a deadline)
